Franklin-Simpson's Joker Phillips Designated UK Head Coach

Franklin-Simpson's own Joker Phillips has been designated as the University of Kentucky's head football coach.  Joker, one of the FSAA's newest members, can be seen at the press conference announcing his new position at the following link:  http://www.ukathletics.com/index.php?s=&url_channel_id=39&url_article_id=21368&change_well_id=2.  During his acceptance Joker talks about the importance of family, friends and growing up in Franklin, KY.  CONGRATULATIONS, JOKER!!

IMAGINATION LIBRARY KICK OFF FEBRUARY 12

Imagination Library will roll into Simpson County on Tuesday, February 12 at Franklin Elementary.  The public is invited to read with Dora, Clifford and Blue from 1:00 p.m.-2:30 p.m.  Any child under the age of 5 may enroll in the program to receive a FREE book every month from birth to age 5.  For more information, contact the Franklin Simpson Family Resource Center at 586-2007.  The Imagination Library is co-sponsored by FSEEF, the Franklin Rotary Club, and Simpson County Schools.

FSEEF STARTS 2008 BY FUNDING PROJECTS TOTALING OVER $12,000

At its first board meeting of 2008, the FSEEF Board of Directors funded three proposals and awarded two donations totaling over $12,000 :

• Franklin Simpson High School Career and Technical Center--Deana Islas received $6,017 to purchase digital imaging equipment for the marketing program.  The marketing classes will design, produce, market and sale products in the school store.
• Learning Opportunities Center--Gary Houchens received $3,000 to begin a library at LOPC that will be stocked, operated and managed by LOPC students.
• Junior Achievement of South Central Kentucky--Heather Rogers received $1,435 to provide the Junior Achievement curriculum to 4th and 5th graders at Lincoln Elementary.
• Franklin Simpson Middle School Fellowship of Christian Athletes--$300 donation to purchase school supplies for Iraqi school children.
• Project Graduation 2008--$1,500 donation to assist with the 2008 Project Graduation festivities.
