Natasha Grimes Receives Excellent Educator 12.10.13

Mrs. Grimes’ nomination included the following student comments:  “She teaches great” and “I think that Mrs. Grimes is an excellent BFF and a good hard worker.”  Mrs. Grimes has been involved with public education for 14. 5 years.  Fourteen of those years she has taught in the Simpson County School System.  She currently teaches 4th Grade Language Arts at Lincoln Elementary School.  In addition to her present position, she has also taught Third Grade and Fifth Grade in Simpson County.

 

Mrs. Grimes was born right here in Franklin, Kentucky and attended all the schools in our district.  She received both her Bachelor’s Degree and her Master’s Degree from Western Kentucky University.

  

She truly enjoys her chosen profession.  She states that, “Everyday with teaching is a new day.  I love when students make connections and their light bulbs start going off.”  She also says that many times students teach her something new.  “Teaching is not always about academics.  It is also about knowing your students, loving them, and making them a part of your life,” she states.

 

Mrs. Grimes is married to Jeff Grimes, a Chaplain in the United States Army.  They have three sons: Colin, a 6th grader at FSMS, Carson, a 2nd grader at Simpson Elementary, and Carter, a three year old.  She is a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she also teaches Sunday School.  In addition, she is a coach for youth soccer.  She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, blogging, and writing.
