Dana Banton & Jennifer Ogles Selected as “Excellent Educators” May 2013

FSEEF is proud and pleased to announce Jennifer Ogles and Dana Banton, 3rd grade teachers at Simpson Elementary,

as the final recipients of the Excellent Educator Award for the 2012-13 school year.



Mrs. Ogles’ nomination included the following parental comment, “My child is excited about school and learning this year. My child says she is the best teacher in the whol wide world because she has a soft voice, she listens to me, and she understands.”

Mrs. Ogles has been woring in the Simpson Scounty School System for the past 12 years and has taught 3rd grade at SES the entire time. Being a hometown girl, she grew up and went to SES herself. Her undergraduate work and masters of Arts degree were earned at Western Kentucky University. She received the prestigious National Board Certification in 2010.

Mrs. Ogles truly has a love for teaching and for the students shw works with on a daily basis. The favorite part of her job is simply the students. “I love watching them grow throughout the year in my classs.” She also loves seeing them years later growing into successful, mature individuals.

Mrs. Ogles is married to Brad Ogles, and they have been blesses with three children: Trinity (12), Brantley (8), and Brady Jo (6). In her free time, Jennifer works with the youth group at Salmons General Baptist Church. She also spends lots of time at the local ballpark watching her three children play ball.




Mrs. Banton’s nomination included several parent and student nominations.  One parent stated, “This is my child’s first year at this school, and Mrs. Banton has made him feel comfortable about his new school.  He wants to learn and do well in school, and I feel she deserves credit for keeping him on the right track.”  A student said Mrs. Banton is “nice and funny.”

Mrs. Banton has been in the teaching profession for 13 years.  She begain teaching in Lexington, Kentucky at Stonewall Elementary for three years.  Moving to Paducah, Kentucky, she taught at Clark Elementary for 5 years.  She has now spent the last five years teaching at SES.  During her teaching career, she has taught 4th grade, science, resource, and 2nd grade.  She has now taught 3rd grade for 3 years.

Dana was born and raised in Franklin, KY.  She went to Auburn University at Montgomery where she received her undergraduate degree.  Then, received her Masters’ Degree from the University of Kentucky.  Acording to Dana, the favorite part of her job is seeing a child graps a concept for the first time!

Mrs. Banton is married to Courtney, a Doctor of Physical Therapy.  They have two boys and one girl:  Ben (3rd grader), Griff (1st grader), and Emerson (4 years old).  During her free time, she loves to spend time with her family and watching the children enjoy life.  “Gos has truly blessed me with a great husband and great kids!”
