Kelly Brown-Excellent Educator March 2013


Kelly Wilson Brown has been selected by the FSEEF board of directors as an Excellent Educator! According to one nomination, “Mrs. Brown makes you wanna do good, and she’s an overal great person. She treats you like her own and cares for all her students. She’s a great teacher and deserves it.” Another student wrote, “She is understanding, compassionate, and cares about her students, but at the same time, she makes sure you get your work done.”

Mrs. Brown has lived in Simpson County her entire life, also attending Simpson County schools as a student. This is her 29th year of teaching, all of it being in the Simpson County School System. She substituted for one year before being hired as a ceritified employee.

She has taught 7th grade English as well as Accelerated English during enrichment class time at Franklin-Simpson Middle School. Mrs. Brown graduated from Western Kentuck University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education with an endorsement for Gifted and Talented Studeis. In addition, she gained her Rank I as a Reading Specialist.

Mrs. Brown truly enjoys working with students in teh middle school age group. One favorite part of her job is building strong bonds iwth the children that walk through her door each year. “I truly love them and want them to know how much I care about their success,” she stated.

Mrs. Brown was married to Mark Brown for 23 years and has three children. Her daughter Cheyenne also teaches 6th grad English at FSMS. Maverick, her oldest son, is currently attending Vanderbilt University and McGavinn, her youngest son, is a senior at Franklin-Simpson High Schools. In her spare time, she ejoys being with her family and children because that maker her a better person.
