Math and Leadership students at Lincoln Elementary did not spend their entire summer at the pool or just hanging out. They learned how to mark coordinates with a GPS to define historical structures and spots in Simpson County under the direction of Mrs. Debbie Hughes and Mrs. Pam Rowland. As a culminating activity, the students requested permission from the Kentucky Historical Society to place a historical marker near the orginal portion of Lincoln Elementary School in order to mark the rich heritage that the school represents in Simpson County’s history. Upon approval, the FSEEF, African American Heritage Center, and Simpson County Historical Society donated the $2300 for the manufacturing and installaiton of the historical marker. We are very proud that these students are committed to preserving the history of their school and are happy to partner with other local nonprofits to make this project a reality.
